The deputy governor of Jonglei state Antipas Yok has appealed to the visiting team of the African Union Peace and Security for support in training of 2,500 local youth, gathered from both Jonglei and greater pibor as security forces.
The youths will be deployed to monitor movement of suspected criminals along their common border.
Addressing the team in Bor town this afternoon, Antipas Nyok says this is a temporary measure until the necessary unified forces are graduated and deployed.
The African Union Peace and Security Council, in a meeting in Addis Ababa last month, resolved to undertake a solidarity visit to South Sudan.
The visit coincides with the second anniversary of the formation of the Transitional Government, to encourage the country as it embarks on the end-phase of the transition and starts the process to the post-transition era.
