Rich Condon, from the National Parks Service, joins Natasha and Daquan to share the impactful story of Camp Saxton. As a part of the Reconstruction Era National Historical Park, Camp Saxton holds great importance to the formerly enslaved people of South Carolina. Camp Saxton was where hundreds of formerly enslaved people heard the Emancipation Proclamation read — and where many joined the 1st South Carolina Infantry to fight for their country and freedom.
