Season 3, Episode 9,   Apr 29, 2022, 10:02 AM

In this week’s ship.energy podcast, Mark Williams talks to Mads Bjørnebye, Manager of Bunker Services at Teekay.

Mads discusses ship operators’ varying routes to compliance for EEXI and CII and how annual emission reductions are required to be 1.42% from this year and every year to hit the IMO’s 2050 targets.

He looks at the agenda for the forthcoming Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 78) in June, where the IMO will consider well to wake not just tank to wake emissions, and he also considers what bunker market consolidation means for buyers and how volatile energy prices and uncertain fuel availability may affect decarbonisation strategies.

Mads has worked in the Oil & Gas industry for 17 years, starting at ExxonMobil in 2003. Since 2009 he has been working in the bunker industry, having held various positions with Wilhelmsen Premier Marine Fuels, Cockett Marine Oil and KPI Bridge Oil. Since 2018 he has headed up the bunker procurement team at Teekay.
