Huge Win For Accessible Vote Campaign

Season 1, Episode 1217,   May 04, 2022, 08:00 AM

For many years now, charities like RNIB have been campaigning to make the UK's voting system more accessible for blind and partially sighted people.
At the moment the system is not fit for purpose and does not give visually impaired people the chance to vote in secrecy or independently, something which is enshrined in law for others.
After much campaigning, the recent Elections Bill will have amendments which will change this failure.
RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Lord Chris Holmes, who's amendments have been included in the final bill, which has received Royal assent.
