Charlotte Jones, RNIB's National Involvement Coordinator shares the latest opportunities for blind and partially sighted people to get involved in.

Opportunities highlighted this week included:

Would you like to help improve the lives of blind and partially sighted people?
RNIB is  conducting research to better understand the experiences of people living with a vision impairment across the UK today, and how those experiences affect their day-to-day lives. The RNIB wants to understand what’s most important to blind and partially sighted people – what’s difficult, easy, what’s missing from everyday life and what brings people joy. So this is your chance as a visually impaired person to get your voice heard…

Help University of Huddersfield with their physiotherapy research.
Holly, a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Huddersfield, is running a research survey to learn more about blind and partially sighted people’s experiences and challenges to being independent with getting out and about. Your input will really help Holly’s team with their understanding of sight loss.

Tell us how the Government should improve vision impairment education support in England.
The RNIB is looking to hear from young people and parents in England about their experiences of specialist vision impairment (VI) education support, to help inform the RNIB response to the Government’s special educational needs and disability (SEND) Review Green Paper. The RNIB is concerned that it looks like the Government's proposals so far pay little attention to less common SEND, including sensory impairment, and it fails to include the roles and responsibilities of the local authority VI specialist education services.
