Professor Pearse Keane Comes 10th in the Ophthalmologist Magazine Power List 2022

Each year The Ophthalmologist Magazine publishes their Power List of the top 100 influential  Ophthalmologists from around the world and Pearse Keane, Professor of Artificial Medical Intelligence at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, and a consultant ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital has come 10 in the Power List 2022 for his work investigating Artificial Medical Intelligence powered diagnosis of eye diseases.

RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey recently caught up with Pearse to find out more about the research around AI powered diagnoses of eye diseases and what it means to Pearse as an Ophthalmologist coming 10th in The Ophthalmologist Magazine Power List 2022.

Pearse began by explaining to Toby what AI is and it’s role within diagnosis of eye disease, the collaboration between Moorfields Eye Hospital and Google Deep Mind and the learning of information, how all the technology has now come into health care and the screening of eye conditions such as Age Related Macular Degeneration and others too.
