Episode 1575,   Jun 07, 2022, 12:50 AM

On 6 June 1944, the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy marked the first step in the Allied liberation of Europe from Nazi occupation during WW2. The D-Day landings involved the largest armada of ships ever assembled and more than 10,000 supporting aircraft, including around 3200 Australian service men and women. Thousands more Australians would serve during the Normandy campaign and beyond.

Battle Historian Mat McLachlan joins Jennie Lenman to reflect on the past and talk about how tourists can engage with war history today.
