The stats come at a time when many people are reportedly sleeping on the street, in tents, cars and caravans.
The Greens have come up with a solution and are calling for South Australia to follow the lead of Victoria by implementing a tax on vacant residential properties.
Housing Spokesperson, Robert Simms MLC, plans to introduce a Bill in Parliament this week to tackle the housing crisis.
