Northampton's Royal & Derngate has appointed a composer in residence. Dougal Irvine - who's already written music for a number of musicals - was appointed composer in residence from a field of 70. He's been brought in to write the music for the first two plays in the Royal & Derngate's Festival of Chaos - which is running until the end of June. So how does a composer go about writing original music for two very different plays? Martin Borley has been finding out. You can here more from Dougal Irvine on our afternoon programme bbc.co.uk/northampton
