"I really enjoyed the brittle character of the sound - a Gloria hand mixer. I wanted to try giving it a tonal quality, which I did through some processing, but wanted the sound to mostly stand on its own. By elongating the sample, I realized that the sound had a vivid story of its own to tell, and I added instrumentation that served to illustrate that sense of "narrative". Sometimes the accompaniment is more dialogue than illustration, but those specifics are up to the listener."
