Composition by Luba Diduch.
"The original recording inspired me because it is a sound I have been hearing in my house during very warm days this summer...my fan always seems to be 'on' -- its sound is omnipresent in the background. While working on this piece, I thought about and recorded other sounds in my house and considered the ways in which they layer one over the other and come to the forefront of what I am hearing. I also think it's interesting that certain sounds divert us from whatever we are concentrating on, and how they become interruptions from whatever we are doing in the moment."
This is part of the Obsolete Sounds project, the world’s biggest collection of disappearing sounds and sounds that have become extinct – remixed and reimagined to create a brand new form of listening. Explore the whole project at https://citiesandmemory.com/obsolete-sounds
