Shonka Dukureh Memorial Foundation

When you see someone in the entertainment industry, especially on a “big stage,” it’s easy to assume they are in good shape financially. In many cases, we’d be mistaken.

Recently, I was talking with a publicity agent when the subject of the brevity of life came up. She began sharing about her friend, 44-year-old Shonka Dukureh. Shonka was recently in the new Elvis movie. It was her big debut. On July 21st, Shonka passed away suddenly, leaving a husband and two children behind, ages 12 and 3.

After talking with her friend some more, I decided I wanted to help bring awareness to a fundraising effort for her children, the Shonka Dukureh Memorial Foundation. I hope you will listen and share this show with others.
