Composition by Gordo Lowrey.
"I'm a film camera nut, and this sample had some good natural rhythmic components w/ the winding that gave me some inspiration. The shutter sound is also very metallic sounding, so I decided to use it as a percussive component, and then built the rest of the composition around it.
"The shutters on these cameras are unique, in that they are gravity controlled, and the shutter speed changes depending upon orientation.
"There is no EQ on this track, no side chaining, and no mixing; no bells and whistles, which is why I'm attracted to old analogue cameras. Minimalism... with a little weirdness mixed in, just like the camera that gave us this sound."
This is part of the Obsolete Sounds project, the world’s biggest collection of disappearing sounds and sounds that have become extinct – remixed and reimagined to create a brand new form of listening. Explore the whole project at https://citiesandmemory.com/obsolete-sounds
