US Embassy: Exert more efforts in ending unlawful recruitment of Child Soldiers and forced labor

South Sudan has been urged to exert more efforts in putting an end to unlawful recruitment of Child Soldiers and forced labor.  

Highlighting details of this Year’s Trafficking in Persons Global Report to Radio Miraya, the US Embassy Political and Economic Counselor, Enrique Gallego says there is need to investigate and prosecute suspected traffickers.

 Gallego mentions this year’s report recommends provision of additional finance and staff to SSPDF Directorate of child protection. 

He notes the need to adapt a comprehensive law on any trafficking among other things.              

This year’s Global Trafficking in Persons Report released in July by the United States department of state acknowledges that the government-maintained efforts to prevent trafficking. 

It cited that in December 2021, the government began drafting its 2021-2023 National Action Plan- NAP to Combat Human Trafficking.
