It's been hailed as a breakthrough deal that could help transform north Belfast. But questions are being asked over what exactly has been agreed for the former Girdwood army base - and whether it can solve a long-standing tensions over housing in the area. The deal on Girdwood was announced on Monday by DUP Minister Nelson McCausland - with support from Sinn Fein, SDLP and UUP representatives. Plans for the site include housing and commercial use, as well as sports facilities. But we still don't know how many houses are planned for the land. This is crucial - there has been pressure for many years for large-scale new housing for Catholics in north Belfast. The Girdwood plan was under focus in a BBC Spotlight last night. Political commentator Brian Feeney claimed on the programme that Sinn Fein was lying down and accepting a Girdwood deal with inadequate numbers of new houses for nationalists.
