Husnara Begum — Overcoming Adversity and Navigating Legal Careers

Husnara Begum is a careers consultant and outplacement specialist with over 20 years of experience working in the legal sector. A former solicitor at Linklaters and legal journalist at The Lawyer, she launched her own consultancy in early 2013, helping to place many lawyers at all levels of PQE into roles in top City and US law firms. Training as an executive coach in 2016, she later extended her consulting services to cover career transitioning and outplacement support. As an Asian female with a disability, she is a strong advocate for boosting diversity and social mobility in the legal profession, especially for people from disadvantaged or minority backgrounds. Her corporate clients comprise a growing roster of US and City law firms and two top post-graduate law schools. She also works very closely with the Law Society in organizing careers events, heading their careers clinic and helping to run their returners program.
