Joyful Company of Singers Premier Work by Zoe Dixon, Their First Composer in Association

The Joyful Company of Singers is a London based choir which has always championed the work of young blind and partially sighted musicians and composers providing opportunities for them to perform at their concerts. Blind Composer and musician Zoe Dixon who has recently graduated from Oxford has just become their first Composer in Association and her first piece of work for the Joyful Company of Singers ‘O Come, Let Us Sing’ will have it’s premier performance at the JCOS’s up-coming Gala Concert at the Cadogan Hall in London, on Sunday 16 October 2022.

The Gala Concert will not only see the premier of Zoe’s work but will also be a celebration of the Joyful Company of Singer’s Musical Director, Peter Broadbent MBE’s 75th Birthday and to mark Peter be honoured with his MBE.

RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey caught up with both Zoe and Peter and began by asking Peter to give a brief background to the Joyful Company of Singers before asking Zoe about the premier of her first piece for the choir with ‘O Come, Let Us Sing’, the inspiration for the piece and how Zoe composed it too.
