Politics - Councillor Bobby Brennan - Decades of service and leaving the local Labour Party

Episode 51,   Nov 11, 2022, 02:06 PM

Today I speak to Councillor Robert (Bobby) Brennan, a Labour Councillor for the Bootle and Netherton Ward in Tim’s hometown of Bootle, North Merseyside, England, United Kingdom. Bobby is due to step down as councillor on the 31st of October 2022. Here he explains why.

We chat about Bobby’s career in politics, the rewards and challenges, the impact of austerity on local government, and the frustrations that have led him to leave. Bobby has felt ostracised from the local Labour Party due to a stand he took on a local development. Bobby feels that party discipline is important, but also that the concerns of the community must be engaged with proactively and positively. Here he shares his message.
