Nationwide discussion on Federalism in South Sudan

Federalism was one of the principles agreed on in the revitalized agreement on the resolution of conflict in the republic of South Sudan. Article 6.2.2. of the agreement states, and I quote: “Initiate a Federal and democratic system of government that reflects the character of South Sudan, in its various institutions taken together, rights, gender equity and affirmative action.”
Of course, the call for federalism in not new in the political agenda of southern Sudan when the region was part of the Sudan.
