 On 4th August 2022, the parties to the revitalized agreement on the resolution of conflict in South Sudan announced the extension of the interim period for another two years beginning from the end of the 36 months of the agreement.  This comes amid concerns that many of the required arrangements to pave the way of national elections are not in place.  These include the constitution review process, security arrangements, election law, among others.
