Cometh the hour, cometh Lionel Messi! Just when his country needed him, their diminutive talisman arrived to set Lionel Scaloni's men on their way to a priceless 2-0 victory over Mexico.
Argentina's 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign got off to the worst start possible when they crashed to a 2-1 opening-match defeat to Saudi Arabia. It meant they had to defeat Mexico to give themselves the best chance of progressing from their group.
And they did just that, with Messi's wonderful opener calming nerves before Enzo Fernandez sealed victory with a second.
