Clare Aldworth, RNIB Voice of the Customer Insight Officer shares the latest opportunities for blind and partially sighted people to get involved in with RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey.

Opportunities highlighted this week included:

Help RNIB improve the accessibility of adverts
An opportunity for 6 people to join a virtual focus group to help the RNIB learn more about your experience and perspectives on the accessibility of adverts and the audio description that is provided.
The focus group will be taking place on Wednesday 1st February from 3-4.30pm. Participants will be able to join the session over Microsoft Teams or dial into the session using a telephone.
If you are interested in joining the focus group then email broadcasting@rnib.org.uk for more info and to register.

Help RNIB Legacy Team improve their communications
Did you know that gifts in wills account for almost a third of RNIB’s income? The Legacy team are here to raise awareness of the importance of this special way of giving. They want to give our legacy pledgers the best possible experience by forming lasting relationships through newsletters, calendars and other communications.
If you are aged 50+ and have lived experience of being blind or partially sighted and are able to volunteer just 10-15 hours of your time during 2023 then please do get in touch and help the Legacy Team with their communications.
Then do contact Jo in our legacy team by emailing jo.miles@rnib.org.uk, and telling her a bit about yourself.

Help shape the future of RNIB connect voices
One of RNIB’s core values is to be led by blind and partially sighted people. Our Connect Voices online group is a vitally important part of how this happens. RNIB is currently rethinking Connect Voices and how we can make sure that the voice and opinions of blind and partially sighted people is at the heart of everything we do. We also want to make sure that we’re making the group an interesting and enjoyable place for our members.
You now have the exciting opportunity to help us shape the future of Connect Voices at this crucial turning point. We really want to hear what our group members have to say about Connect Voices, both positive and negative. And what you want to see happen with the group moving forward.
There will be a one-off focus group next month and also a couple of other groups at different times to hopefully accommodate everyone’s availability. We are looking for a broad range of experiences — whether you’ve taken part in many opportunities or none — we want to hear your thoughts! We’d love to hear from as many people as possible, but we would ask that you apply only if you are a member of Connect Voices.
To register your interest please email involvement@rnib.org.uk.
