The End of the Whole Mess with Paul G. Tremblay

Episode 163,   Feb 01, 2023, 09:00 AM

Author Paul G. Tremblay comes back to The Kingcast just as his book, The Cabin At The End of The World, is being adapted by M. Night Shyamalan into the major motion picture Knock At The Cabin to discuss a semi-related short story by Stephen King. Both stories deal with End-Of-The-World scenarios and Tremblay is here to discuss the story, King's authorly instincts in executing the story, and even proposes that maybe the extinction of mankind portrayed in this story ain't a half bad way to go out. You'll also get a healthy examination of King's short work versus his novel-length work, where he's tiptoed around Lovecraft and why we demand he do more cosmic horror.

Stephen King's The End of the Whole Mess is a slightly different take on the apocalypse from his previous massive entry, The Stand. Here, we're wiped out by the good intentions of a scientist seeking world peace and that he does, but at a pretty dire cost.
