On Writing with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck

Episode 168,   Mar 08, 2023, 09:00 AM

Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the writing duo behind A Quiet Place and the writer/directors of the upcoming Adam-Driver-Shooting-Dinosaurs-With-A-Machine-Gun genre epic titled 65 join The Kingcast boys to take a deep dive into Stephen King's On Writing.

Naturally this serves as a jumping off point for a discussion about the power of storytelling and the blood, sweat and tears that goes into creative writing. Beck and Woods discuss the lessons they've learned from reading King, how true the concept of an idea pool that we're all fishing from is, and, of course, a tangent into the wonders of The Cheesecake Factory with it's surprisingly good food and phone book sized menu. That's how we do 'round these parts.

Stephen King's On Writing is part memoir, part grammar lesson, and part inspiration. Who better to learn the ins and outs of basic writing from than the master of horror? And he does so in such a folksy, down to earth way that it never feels like homework.
