An echo of a lost place

"This piece was inspired by the faint sounds of insects and birds in the original recording. When I listened to it, I could imagine the real location in which the recording was made. In fact, I chose this sounds because I am from the Midwestern USA and have spent many fond summer evenings in Wisconsin forest and prairie preserves.

"To create the instruments, I took the original recording and combined it with sine waves to create the synth pad that sounds through work of it, and then added flutes and flute-inspired synths to fill out the texture. I decided to create a "lo-fi" inspired ambient track to fit the mental calm of an evening overlooking a Midwestern forest or fen.

"With deforestation and development, many of the woodlands and prairies of the Midwest have unfortunately been lost. There is even a current controversial proposal for the state park system to turn a large section one of my favorite parks in Wisconsin into a golf course (and there is an existing golf course less than a mile from the park gate!) Those delicate ecosystems can never be fully restored once destroyed. We all lose when natural places are lost. So, this piece is meant to Mother Nature's gentle voice calling us back."
