Toxicity in Hockey feat. Evan F. Moore

Episode 34,   Jun 01, 2023, 12:57 AM

Hey Puckheads! It's a very special episode!

Today we have Chicago based journalist and co-author of 'Game Misconduct: Hockey's Toxic Culture and How To Fix It', Evan F. Moore. Evan and I discuss some very salient hockey topics and a little bit about the Blackhawks organization.

Our conversation touches on a series of topics starting with Evan turning from fan to observer, and then onto the Blackhawks’ horrendous cover-up fail of Kyle Beach, the NHL taking an “L” on Pride Nights, molding our children into hockey players, and of course, beer!

I'm excited to share this episode with all of you and am so glad to have had the opportunity to talk with Evan about the book that he and Jashvina Shah wrote. It's important to understand that hockey isn't always fresh ice and game winning goals. Much of what isn’t largely discussed about the NHL needs to be surfaced and some uncomfortable bullshit needs to be aired so we can work towards an all around better sport. Confronting the issues of racism, homophobia, sexism, (just to name a few isms) and bringing these issues to light is essential to the process of making the sport accessible and safe for fans and players alike.

Thanks so much for giving me your time @evanFmoore  I was incredibly nervous and tried not to show it but thanks for taking the time to chit chat with this humble Podcaster. Cheers!
