SHOHEI OHTANI, ONLYFANS & HOW TO FIX BASEBALL

Episode 16,   Jul 10, 2023, 01:00 PM

Even with a star like Shohei Ohtani, baseball is really close to becoming like hockey and soccer in the U.S. - just niche sports. In this episode, I discuss why baseball struggles to bring in new fans and give recommendations on what they can do about it.

Despite the best player in Major League Baseball being an actual robot, it seems like the sport continues to decrease in popularity in the mainstream and is on the verge of becoming a niche sport like hockey in the U.S. Yes, the MLB has historically been lower in popularity when compared to the NFL and NBA, and yes the players continue to earn fat, guaranteed salaries regardless, but the league should be concerned about losing a generation of kids who have no desire to watch baseball on TV. The pipeline of baseball fans is shrinking in Major League Baseball needs to do something fast to being in more young fans.

In this episode, I talk about the challenges that baseball faces when compared to other professional sports and give some recommendations on what the MLB powers can do to bring in more young and casual viewers.
