Sheila Cowley is a playwright, a writer, a producer, a director, an editor and an audio engineer. Not necessarily in that order, but you get the idea.

Some of the things she works on, as a solo creator and in collaboration, defy quick and easy description.

Her fingerprints are everywhere in St. Petersburg – she created the audio for the Arts Alliance’s self-guided downtown mural tours and the bilingual audio tours for the James Museum. She records, edits and distributes podcasts for Creative Pinellas and other entities. She is the managing editor of Creative Pinellas’ Arts Coast Magazine, which presents unique, detailed perspectives on what artists do, and why them do them, many written in the first person by the artists themselves.

Her published-and-performed plays include the much lauded Flying, along with The Burlesque Astronomy Play, Super-Her and Trio.

On this edition of the Arts Alive! podcast, Cowley talks about her many creative pursuits, including some that are very new, including Ybor Speaks, an audio public art commission from the City of Tampa, and her Sparks Collective Ensemble illustrated audiobook series for children (watch The Rainbow Book and other Sparks projects here).
