The pelicans at the Skyway Fishing Pier need our help. If you love pelicans, please take a moment to read and help.
If you are local and don’t like the photos on our Facebook page which are the birds our rescuer has rescued from this pier in just the past few weeks, then please attend the meeting next Wednesday in St. Petersburg (details in the link below) but either way, please send your comments of support via the link in this post. All comments must be in by this Friday.
We are ALL interested parties even though the FWC lists Interested Parties as: “Anglers and visitors at Skyway Pier, the pier concessionaire, wildlife rescuers and rehabilitators, and local and state government agencies”.
But the slaughter taking place at this pier affects ALL of us who love our seabirds and all of us should have a say in this. We are ALL "interested parties".
Please attend the meeting if possible and wear turquoise, aqua or any color of blue to show support of our pelicans – if you can’t attend or even if you do attend, please also send a comment - Something simple like this (copy and paste if you wish):
“Please prohibit use of fishing rigs using more than 1 hook or multiple hooks from Nov 15 2023-March 15, 2024 and limit anglers to no more than 2 sets of hook and line gear.
