Once you have tasted God, even if you lapse into old habits, you never forget it. Just like Jacob’s hip must have ached after healing from the break every now and again, reminding him of this wrestling match, the impression on our heart’s aches from our wrestling when we go away from Him. That ache tells us that we know that without God we are nothing, but with God we can do all things.
