Bringing a change at the grassroots requires people's participation. One where every citizen comes together to support the Government’s initiatives and boost the pace of progress. My guest for this episode of Duologues, Smt. Vini Mahajan, Secretary, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, is heading two of the most critical programmes for the Government – Swachh Bharat Mission Phase 2 (ODF Plus) and Jal Jeevan Mission. These programmes are working towards sustaining the momentum of safe sanitation, solid and liquid waste management and providing access to drinking water for every household in rural India.
Our discussion revolved around understanding the government's role in addressing local issues, fostering a Jan Andolan (people's movement) to accelerate progress, and empowering women to take the lead as custodians of development.
