On January 2, 2024, Cherelle Parker was sworn in as the 100th Mayor of Philadelphia after a resounding general election victory. Parker, the former City Councilwoman for Philadelphia’s 9th District, is the first woman to hold the office of Mayor, but she’s no stranger to making history; Parker previously became the youngest Black woman to serve in Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives.
