New York in the 1930s was being leveled by the Great Depression and
Prohibition was in full swing. When a speakeasy owner was beginning to
fear bankruptcy, his friends began to help him come up with a plan to save
the bar. The plot included life insurance policies, too much alcohol and
death. When they set their sights on a homeless drunk named Michael
Malloy, their seemingly simple plan got more complicated than they could
have ever imagined.
