Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Lord of the Rings Returns, The Crow Turns 30

May 14, 09:00 AM

On this episode of The Hollywood Outsider podcast, we are headed back to the land Charlton Heston built. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes takes place generations after the events of "War". This time, a group of civilized primates are viciously attacked, which leaves one of their own - Noa - to set off on a journey to save his clan. The less you know of the story the better, but you can rest assured that director Wes Ball understands the respect the last trilogy carries with it, and this film honors both the heart and depth those films exacted. Humanity versus the lives of all those animals we force to do our bidding, and how the memories of our heroes can even be distorted into a manipulative tactic for dictatorship. All of this and more is on the table as we discuss Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

That's not all though! Entertainment news gets a once over as Lord of the Rings brings both Andy Serkis AND Gollum back, Roger Corman passes away, Disney merges with Max in the weirdest of ways, and Brandon Lee's The Crow celebrates its 30th anniversary.
