The Faith Paradox

Doubt is a common part of the human experience, including our spiritual journey. Here are some reasons why God might allow us to experience doubt:
- Faith Is a Gift from God: According to Scripture, faith is a gift from God1. God doesn’t stop our doubt all the time and He could bless us with faith when He wants1. God waits for us to ask Him for what we need so we then know He is the one who has blessed us with this gift1.
- Increasing Your Faith: Doubt can be used as a way of increasing your faith1. Doubt is like the shovel God wants us to use to deepen our faith1. You won’t dig for the treasured answers if you don’t first have troubling questions1.
- Reshaping and Maturing Your Faith: God will allow you to have doubts as a way of reshaping and maturing the expression of your faith1.
- Understanding and Expressing Doubt: We should not deny or fear our doubt but express it2. Doubt is not the enemy and not something that needs to be fought. It needs to be understood, expressed, and used2.
- Part of Faith Journey: Almost everyone experiences some kind of doubt at some point in their faith journey2. The Bible highlights the doubters2. It seems God has more of a tolerance for doubt than most churches do2.
