"“Parachicos” is a piece that tries to merge a traditional Mexican dance from the 17th century with the contemporary sounds of electronic music. By intertwining beats and synthesizers with the notes of reed flutes and collective drumming, a new party is generated —a new dance. I decided to work this piece because I myself am Mexican, because this is a dance from my cultural background, and because I feel deeply rooted in the parties and traditions of my country."
