Jennifer Tyson, Education Coordinator at St. Pete's Sunken Gardens with suggestions as "No Mow March" transitions into "No Mow April" In Pinellas County, FL, "No Mow March" encourages residents to refrain from mowing their lawns during March to support pollinators by allowing wildflowers and other plants to bloom and provide food sources.
Purpose: The "No Mow March" initiative aims to help pollinators like bees and butterflies by providing them with food sources (nectar and pollen) during a crucial time of year when other plants may not yet be in bloom.
How it works: Participants pledge to not mow their lawns or a portion of their lawns during the month of March, allowing wildflowers and other plants to grow and flower.
Why March? In Florida, March is a time when many native wildflowers are blooming, and turfgrasses are still waking up, making it a good time to support pollinators.
Benefits: By participating in "No Mow March," you can help: Support local pollinator populations.  Provide food sources for bees and other insects.  Create a more natural and biodiverse landscape.
