RadioStPete participated in Do Good Day at Fergs Sports Bar in downtown St. Pete March 29, interviewing some of the 35 non-profits sharing their mission and how you can volunteer and donate. Join Good Deeds host Nanette Wiser in making every day a random act of kindness by getting involved with these and other organizations making a difference in our community.  In this episode, we talk about the animal and pet rescue organizations. Meet Friends of Strays, St. Petersburg’s oldest no kill animal shelter. Founded in 1978, our top priority is to connect animals in need of rescue with people who will love them. With thousands of cats and dogs entering our shelter every year, Friends of Strays’ staff and volunteers provide the utmost love and care for every animal that comes through our doors. Through their outreach, advocacy, and services we strive to ensure that animal companionship is accessible to all. In addition to pet adoption, we seek to create a better world for pets and people by focusing on life saving programs promoting pet retention, community empowerment, and humane pet ownership education. They need volunteers, fur-baby foster parents, donations and more. Adoptable cats are at The Cat Box Adoption Center, 3015 46th Ave. N., St. Petersburg FL 33714. Adoptable dogs, donation drop off, and intake, foster, medical and TNVR programs are located at 2911 47th Ave. N., St. Petersburg FL 33714. Friends of Strays receives no government funding, and their lifesaving success is only possible by the support of friends like you. https://www.friendsofstrays.org/
