Welcome to Episode 5 of THE CLASSICAL SCENE with Dr. Victor Minke Huls, Associate Principal Cellist of The Florida Orchestra. Today’s guest is Matthew Abernathy, a phenomenal choral conductor, so this episode is all about singing!
Matthew Abernathy is the Artistic Director of the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay and Director of Choral Studies at the University of Tampa, and was recently appointed Associate Director of Choirs at the University of Michigan. He and Victor spoke about several upcoming choral concerts, including Brahms German Requiem May 3rd, Sing Out! on May 14, and Mahler 3 on May 24 and 25. The focus of their conversation was “Radiant Visions,” the Master Choral concert on April 15 and 16 featuring contemporary music by Jocelyn Hagen and a world premiere commission by Natalie Draper!
