Stories about U.S. Marines can be especially creepy because they blend gritty realism with the supernatural or unknown. Marines are trained to face the worst humanity has to offer: war zones, insurgents, and unimaginable stress… but when they encounter something beyond logic, like ancient curses, cryptid creatures, or alien forces, their strength and discipline clash with helplessness and fear. It’s the contrast between hardened warriors and unknowable horrors that makes these stories so unnerving, if even a Marine is afraid, what chance do the rest of us have?
