Welcome back to Episode 6 of My Favourite F1 Season, where Autosport Editor-In-Chief Kevin Turner sits down with journalists and broadcasters past and present, to talk about their favourite F1 season. This week, Kevin is joined by Sportscar correspondent Gary Watkins to discuss the 1983 season.
It was a new era for F1 entering 1983, "ground effect" floors on cars were banned, and it led to an intense battle between turbo-changed engines, and naturally aspirated Cosworth V8's, and a battle between Nelson Piquet and Alain Prost, with the Brazilian ultimately taking glory in the final round of the Championship in Kyalami. It marked Brabham's final World Championship, and the first turbo-powered car to win an F1 title. Gary and Kev break down the elegance of the grid, why Prost ultimately failed to win the title, as well as comparing the Top 10 Driver Rankings from Autosport and Auto Course.
