I title this series of conversations with young people The Love of Learning and the Desire
for God. I met each person in this series while teaching at Newman Theological
College in Edmonton from 2020, during the pandemic, through the Fall of 2023.
Newman had just introduced a new degree and moved its curriculum into a great
books and Socratic dialogue model.
I am joined by Anna Sidloski in this podcast. Anna grew up in Saskatchewan, was
largely home school within an intentional community that formed the love of learning
and the desire for God. How this community of learners was shaped is richly
described by Anna. Its gifts and the ground superbly prepared her for what unfolded
in her years with the great books at Newman Theological College. The first year, the
year of COVID was not easy and she vowed not to return. But she did and, as you
will hear, the maturing that occurred is at the centre of all that is best in a liberal
education.
Welcome to our conversation.
