OHA lifts indoor mask mandates for schools and public on March 12, 2022, due to rapidly declining hospitalizations and cases. Businesses and venues can set their own mask rules. Masks are still recommended for high-risk individuals (unvaccinated, immunocompromised, 65+, those with underlying conditions, or living with someone in these categories). Masks are still required in healthcare settings, on public transport, and in airports/airplanes. Children under two, those with disabilities/medical conditions preventing safe mask use, those with breathing difficulties, or those sleeping should not wear masks. OHA also pauses quarantine requirements from March 12 for general public, K-12, and childcare due to high vaccination/immunity and less effective contact tracing. Schools will still exclude symptomatic or infected individuals, and isolation remains 5 days post-positive test + 5 days masking.
