Tomorrow, March 12, OHA will pause quarantining in schools and childcare, and lift most indoor mask mandates except in healthcare settings. Quarantine means staying away from others after exposure; OHA will no longer require it if asymptomatic. Isolation (staying away after testing positive) remains 5 days, plus 5 days masking. Masks are still required in healthcare, public transport, airports/planes, and for high-risk individuals. The pandemic is not over. OHA monitors variants and may reinstate mask requirements. Anyone can still wear masks, and some places may enforce their own. Harassment for wearing a mask is illegal bias/hate; report to 911 or 1-844-924-BIAS. Businesses can still require masks and proof of vaccination. Organizations can require staff/on-site visitors to mask. Workers have rights; contact OSHA for safety violations, BOLI for civil rights (971-673-0761). Immunocompromised individuals unable to vaccinate can use oral medications (Pfizer, Merck) or monoclonal antibody infusions. For accessibility, contact OHA at 971-673-2411 or COVID19.LanguageAccess@dhsoha.state.or.us.
