With the Surfing England visually impaired sessions coming up fairly soon RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey caught up with Paralympic triathlon bronze medalist, three times world champion visually impaired surfer and sports coach Melissa Reid to find out what it is like to go surfing as a visually impaired person and what it might be like stepping on a surf board for the first time too.
Melissa will be at the up-coming Surfing England VI surfing sessions in Croyde, Devon on 14 and 15 August 2025 giving some advice about surfing to the blind and partially sighted people taking part, passing on her in-depth knowledge of the sport and some of her coaching techniques too.
