PET TIPS - Is A Bird Right For You? Choosing & Caring For Parrots, Cockatiels

Be sure to check with your vet if you are thinking of bringing a bird to a home with other animals and to adopt/buy from a trusted source. To care for a pet parrot, provide a large, safe cage and a balanced diet of high-quality pellets, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Ensure constant access to clean water and plenty of engaging, bird-safe toys to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. Socialize and train your intelligent parrot daily, offering consistent boundaries and positive reinforcement, as they thrive on interaction. Regularly clean the cage and bathing facilities, and provide daily opportunities for bathing, misting, or showers. Keep your home free of toxins like Teflon and certain metals, and schedule annual check-ups with an avian vet.
