Your Nightly Prayer 🙏🏾 Matthew 18:21-22
Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.”
MATTHEW 18:21-22
DEVOTION
Based on Matthew 18
Peter thought he was being generous by offering to forgive seven times. But Jesus radically expanded the standard: forgiveness must be limitless. We are called to forgive as God has forgiven us—freely, repeatedly, and completely. Holding onto offense only chains us to bitterness, but forgiveness releases both the offender and our own hearts. This doesn’t mean ignoring wrongs, but choosing mercy over revenge.
Jesus isn’t asking for a number—He’s asking for a heart posture. Forgiveness is not weakness; powerful obedience reflects the Gospel itself.
A.C.T.S. REFLECTION
ADORATION: Lord, You are rich in mercy and quick to forgive. I worship You for offering complete and undeserved grace to all who come.
CONFESSION: I admit I hold onto grudges and find it hard to forgive when hurt. Cleanse my heart of resentment and pride.
THANKSGIVING: Thank You for the countless times You’ve forgiven me. Thank You for showing me a better way of mercy, freedom, and peace.
SUPPLICATION: Jesus, give me a heart that forgives freely and often. Help me remember that forgiveness isn’t excusing sin but entrusting justice to You. Teach me to release others from debt as You’ve released me. Fill me with compassion and the strength to love again.
PRAYER
“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.”
MATTHEW 18:21-22
Dear Lord, There is no limit to Your love. There are no boundaries to Your mercy. Even though I was once Your enemy, You pursued me and forgave me. Even now, I find myself in awe of the forgiveness You give me. In light of Your unconditional love and unending forgiveness, I pray that You would help me forgive others. Expand the horizons of my mercy, and empower me with grace. May my heart grow larger with every moment I spend with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.🙏🏾
