In this Arts Spotlight, host Nanette Wiser catches up with former SHINE Mural Festival coordinator Jenee Priebe about her enterpreneur chapter, No Good Deeds Art, LLC consulting on public art projects and shining a light on why art in public places is so important.Â
👉Priebe just wrapped a project with acclaimed Spanish artist Dulk who created a large-scale public mural that celebrates biodiversity and the natural world through his signature surrealist style in November. Born Antonio Segura, Dulk is a dreamlike visual storyteller whose work blends surreal imagery and organic forms. His practice often includes field research in natural habitats and ecosystems, from coastal shorelines to jungles, which he reimagines in large-scale murals and gallery installations. Dulk arrives in St. Pete via the Galapagos Islands after his most recent collaboration with National Geographic as part of his “Heritage Project” which is celebrated for shining light on environmental fragility while engaging audiences with immersive visuals. Over the past decade, his murals have adorned walls in cities across Spain, Latin America, and the U.S. Dulk’s mural is located on a Pinellas Trail-facing wall at St. Pete Athletic, a unique athletic social club located within The Factory St. Pete in the Warehouse Arts District at 680 28th Street South, St. Petersburg, FL 33712
👉We also discussed her next project. Did you know that St. Petersburg is the U.S. kickoff city for groundbreaking international documentary series challenging how society views aging women? The documentary series, directed by an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Diane Larrea, will capture Capdevila's creative process alongside intimate portraits of the women who inspire her work. A pilot episode filmed in Spain is currently available on Amazon Prime and Apple TV in Europe. The St. Petersburg episode will showcase local mothers and grandmothers whose stories reflect the universal themes of resilience, adaptation, and the privilege of growing old. Spanish artist and muralist Marina Capdevila is bringing her internationally acclaimed Viejas Glorias (Glorious Old Women) project to the historic Princess Martha in St. Petersburg as part of a five-city global documentary series that explores how women—particularly mothers and grandmothers—are perceived as they age. The Viejas Glorias project challenges deeply ingrained cultural narratives about aging by celebrating the wisdom, resilience, humor, and beauty that come with lived experience. Through intimate interviews, large-scale public murals, and cinematic storytelling, Capdevila and her Emmy Award-winning documentary team are creating a powerful counter-narrative that positions elderly women not as invisible or diminished, but as vessels of strength, cultural memory, and irreplaceable knowledge. "At a time when our world faces profound social and environmental challenges, we need the perspective that only comes with age," says Capdevila. "These women have lived through wars, raised families, survived losses, and adapted to unimaginable change. Their stories deserve to be monumental—literally painted on our walls and woven into our collective consciousness." The Museum of Motherhood (MoM), Tampa Bay's first and only women's museum, has joined as fiscal sponsor for the project, recognizing the profound synergy between Viejas Glorias and MoM's mission to celebrate and amplify women's voices, particularly those of mothers whose contributions are often overlooked or undervalued. All donations are tax-deductible through MoM's 501(c)(3) status.
