As the mobile court deploys in Yei, Central Equatoria State, UNMISS Rule of Law and Security Institutions Support Chief, Anees Ahmed says deployment fills a critical justice gap after years without functioning courts in Yei, Lainya and Morobo. The court will hear 46 serious cases, including SGBV and murder, with local partners providing support to vulnerable survivors. He notes that weak investigations, stigma and insecurity still hinder justice but says the court helps restore public confidence. Ahmed adds that mobile courts are temporary, with long-term justice hubs planned.
