Welcome to Historically St Pete, a weekly conversation where Rui Farias, executive director of the St. Petersburg Museum of History, explores the truths, and myths of the people and events that created the Sunshine City. In an exclusive interview with "A Land Remembered" Director @Todd Wiseman Jr. (School Duel)  & Christa Boarini, we learn about their plans to cast and start shooting the epic series in March, with release for 2027.  There will be gators, cowboys and a "Lonesome Dove" feel to the episodic history of Florida, says Wiseman. the book centers around multiple generations of the MacIvey family that moves from Georgia to Florida in 1858.
Says Farias: "Back when I was teaching at St. Petersburg High School and started a
Florida/St. Pete History class there was one book that was required reading
for my students. And actually, it should be required reading for everyone
moving to Florida.  Published in 1984, the quintessential Florida story written by Patrick D. Smith, A Land Remembered.  A historical novel that if you didn’t know it was a historical novel, you would think you were reading a Florida historical non-fiction story.
To many, and me, the book explores:
 The American Spirit – representing Florida as the final frontier.
 The relationship between man and the land we live on.
 The corruption and greed that made Florida, well, Florida.
